About this guide
Who keeps Also Known As
Also Known As is the work of the Names desk, its editorial team, and is signed collectively under no individual name. The guide has one reason to exist: Metro Vancouver casinos change names and owners, and people keep searching for the old ones.
The desk
The Names desk is this guide's own editorial team. Its work is credited to the desk as a whole, with no personal byline. Money reaching the desk never comes from venues, operators, BCLC, PlayNow or help services. Links to venues and help services are never paid. Also Known As runs no casino: nobody bets here, and there are no player accounts.
The guide's single commercial tie sits on the home page. There, paid links tagged Ad point to one private online casino partner. It is not PlayNow, is not run by the province and holds no provincial licence. A commission comes through them, and another partner may replace this one.
How the desk checks
The Names desk checked the facts on October 7 and 8, 2026. It read them against the venues' and operators' own pages, news releases, official sources and encyclopedia entries for dated histories. Every earlier name needs a dated source. A name with no date in any source is not listed. Owners and operators are given as of the check date, in the words of the sale announcements.
A sale agreed but not closed is shown as pending. Where sources give different figures or dates, the desk leaves the figure out or says that they differ. The full method is on the page How Also Known As traces names.
The pictures
Black and white casino photographs with a photographer and licence under them come from Wikimedia Commons and Flickr under free licences. Where one was edited, its credit says so. Two casino pictures are generated images made from real photographs of those rooms. One shows a hotel room at Cascades Casino Langley, the other a slot aisle at Elements Casino Surrey. The people in the pictures are fictional and generated, and none of them works for a casino or for BCLC.

Writing to the guide
Letters for the guide go to [email protected]. A letter can carry a correction, a name or a date that has changed, or a question about how the guide works. The address belongs to the guide, not to any casino. Questions for a venue go to that venue's own phone line.
