The line of names
Elements Casino Surrey began as the casino at a Surrey harness track. 1976: harness racing began at Fraser Downs. November 2005: the casino at the track opened its doors. December 19, 2015: the reopening of the former Fraser Downs Racetrack Casino as Elements Casino was reported, after a six-month, $11 million renovation.
May 2, 2025: the last races were run. August 15, 2025: the track closed abruptly after the City of Surrey ended the lease. The barns were demolished by December 18, 2025. The casino carried on.
Inside, one racing word survives in an event room called The Homestretch at Elements. The name on the door no longer mentions the track.

Who runs it
March 9, 2026: Great Canadian agreed to sell Elements Casino Surrey to SE-MI-AH-MU Development Corporation of Semiahmoo First Nation. The sale is subject to regulators and to the City of Surrey, which owns the land.
