Renamed or replaced
Great Canadian Casino Vancouver in Coquitlam has carried four names since 2001. October 13, 2001: Great Canadian opened it as Casino Coquitlam. 2005/2006: renamed Boulevard Casino after a $105 million expansion. December 20, 2013: grand opening as Hard Rock Casino Vancouver. December 2023: renamed Great Canadian Casino Vancouver.
Elements Casino Surrey began as the casino at the Surrey track, which opened its doors in November 2005. December 19, 2015: a report had the former Fraser Downs Racetrack Casino reopened as Elements Casino, after a six-month, $11 million renovation. Hastings Casino stands at a former track that opened for business in 1889 as East Park, long known as Exhibition Park. The old Hastings Racecourse address forwards to its page, and the venue is branded Hastings Casino.
Parq Casino replaced the temporary Edgewater Casino, run by Paragon Gaming at Enterprise Hall in the Plaza of Nations. September 29, 2017, 11 p.m. Pacific time: Parq Vancouver officially opened, and all Edgewater employees moved to Parq.
Starlight Casino New Westminster followed the Royal City Star, a riverboat that began casino operations on October 6, 1999. December 9, 2007: the boat closed its casino and the operation moved ashore. Starlight Casino opened in 2007. Grand Villa Casino Burnaby followed Gateway's Burnaby casino, on the second floor of the parkade across the street. Grand Villa Casino opened in 2008.
Same name since opening
River Rock Casino Resort in Richmond first opened to the public on June 25, 2004. It stands on the site of the former Bridgepoint Market and has kept its name. The owners changed instead. June 16, 2026: ownership passed from Great Canadian Entertainment to a partnership of Petroglyph Development Group (Snuneymuxw First Nation) and Musqueam Capital Corp (Musqueam Indian Band).
Cascades Casino Langley has carried its name since Gateway opened it in May 2005. Early 2018: its 420-seat Summit Theatre closed and became a bingo hall, with sessions Thursday to Sunday. Cascades Casino Delta opened on September 29, 2022, and has had no other name.

What became of Edgewater Casino?
Parq Casino on Smithe Street replaced it. Edgewater was a temporary casino that Paragon Gaming ran at Enterprise Hall in the Plaza of Nations. Parq Vancouver officially opened on September 29, 2017, at 11 p.m. Pacific time, and all Edgewater employees moved there.
Is Fraser Downs still open?
The racetrack closed on August 15, 2025, after the City of Surrey ended the lease. Its last races were run on May 2, 2025. The casino is a separate matter: the former Fraser Downs Racetrack Casino reopened as Elements Casino, a reopening reported on December 19, 2015.
